106 JACK fm is the radio station for Stevenage, Hertford, Ware, Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, Hitchin and Letchworth - and surrounding areas.

In May 2010 we changed our name from 'Hertbeat FM' - mainly due to the fact that the 'Heart' brand of radio station had become a national identity and we were getting confused with them. So we changed our name to 'Jack'.  Why JACK?  Well, apart from it being the Number 1 boy's name in the country - Jack is a name also used by stations across the US, Canada and now the UK. But WAIT!  We're still proud to be independent (we haven't "sold out") but we're also very grateful to receive assistance from our sister JACK stations in Oxford and Bristol (the other 2 stations in this country).

So, we're still passionate about being local - with a greater investment being put into our news team to report on the issues that matter to Hertfordshire... only we're doing it in a different style! 

Our music list has expanded greatly - and we're now playing songs that you've forgotten all about. JACK fm is like "God's iPod", as Jeremy Clarkson said. The new Prime Minister, David Cameron, is also a fan of JACK fm and regularly contacts our sister station in Oxford!!!

Steve and Chris are still on our breakfast show - and everyone at the station is loving being part of the JACK family. We produce new JACK lines every day - and hundreds of hours are spent each week creating the JACK sound which has won numerous prestigious Sony Radio Academy Awards.
