Stevenage Old Town Bookies Robbed At Knife Point

Thursday, April 12th 2012 09:00

Detectives are hunting down a man who pulled out a knife on staff at a betting shop in Stevenage Old Town, before robbing them...

He went into Ladbrokes on the High Street on Tuesday, just before 9.30pm at night.

The man - who was wearing a grey hoodie and trouser - took cash after threatening a worker.

The offender is described as an Asian man, aged in his 20s, 5ft 5ins tall and of a skinny build.

Detective Constable Neil Davies from the Local Crime Unit in Stevenage is investigating and said: "It is possible that the suspect had been waiting outside the shop for a short while before committing this crime. I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and believes they saw a man matching the description or believes they saw anyone running from the scene to contact police with information.

I am also keen to hear from anyone who believes they know who is responsible. If you don't feel comfortable contacting officers directly then please give the information anonymously to Crimestoppers."

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Davies via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number E1/12/2258.

Alternatively call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. You do not have to give your name and could be entitled to a cash reward.
